I’ve had the pleasure of staying at Sea Song a number of times over the past several years, sometimes for a month or 6 weeks at a stretch and, believe me, it’s truly one of the jewels of Montserrat.
First of all it’s completely private — one of only two houses on a cul de sac surrounded by wooded property — yet it has unrivalled views of the sea from its perfect location just above Woodlands Beach, wonderful by day and particularly lovely by moonlight. The house is fitted out to the highest standards with comfortable beds and poolside furniture, ample dining and cooking supplies (china, flatware, pots and pans etc.) and a wonderful open kitchen with views over the piano shaped pool and out to the sea. A wide covered veranda overlooking the ocean with ceiling fans is the ideal place to enjoy a cool drink or dinner for 10 or 12 of your friends.
Sea Song is ideal for a romantic couple’s getaway or, because of its separate downstairs apartment with 2 bedrooms, shower and living room and the same fabulous view, you can bring the whole family and friends. Ceinwen, the London-based owner, and Jacquie, her local Montserrat agent, can be counted on to make sure your stay is everything you hope it will be and, as one who has known Montserrat well for more than ten years and has been in many of the homes and guest houses there, I can tell you Sea Song is the top choice for accommodation on that lovely island. I’m already looking forward to my next trip.

We loved our stay in the Woodlands. The property is in a great location and had incredible views. Ceinwen was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with.

Stayed here in May , having rented villas all over the world. This house is very special: fitted out to a very high standard. Excellent wi-fi, stunning views, kitchen has everything you need and fun to cook in the heart of a large living space. SO many terrace spaces to sit and contemplate the splendid views. Spacious and private. Lots of hot water, big fridge, ceiling fans everywhere. Montserrat itself is very underdeveloped (rather the development was mostly obliterated by the volcano) but there are small charming places to eat, great beaches. SO for a quiet, high class holiday this is just the ticket.

Ceinwen is the most gracious host I know. Wholly trustworthy, discrete, reliable with a serious dash of style! Having initially stayed and returned a further three times, which shows how special the house and island is, I have no doubt whatsoever in recommending both the house and Ceinwen as a host. Montserrat has an outdoor bare foot relaxed; unpretentious island life; leave the front door open ambiance; stunning scenery with a touch of the old world allure. How the Caribbean was before mass tourism set in and the atmosphere changed it to uniform resorts. The house captures this perfectly with the islands, and possibly the regions, best balcony running the length of the house. Laid out well for families and spacious enough for groups to find their own solitude I have only happy memories of my times there. The pool is secluded and a real sun trap, with views over towards Nevis, where one can while away days without realising just how quickly your time goes by. The house is divine with an American style kitchen, large living space and did I mention the sea view balcony? Island life does mean that the pace is slow but that’s why I go! There are a handful of fun local restaurants, wonderful hiking and of course the volcano… A Caribbean gem, a short hop from Antigua should you wish to spend sometime on the tourist side of the tracks!
